Honda cars India are selling the 4th gen City along side the all new 5th gen City. why are they doing this? We are not quite sure ourselves. But what we do know is that there are going to be just two variants to choose from for buyers looking at the 4th gen City. They are the lower spec SV and V variants and will only be offered with a manual transmission paired to the older 1.5 litre petrol engine.
Price difference between the entry level variants of the 4th gen and 5th gen city is about Rs 24,000. The amount of kit you get for that 24,000 Rs extra for the newer car is justifiable. Safety features such as Side airbags, traction control, ESC, hill-start assist, a tyre pressure monitor and projector headlights are some of the many additions to the entry level variant (V) of the newer car.
Buyers looking to buy an automatic will have to opt for the new 5th gen city offered with an all new 1.5 litre DOHC i-Vtec petrol engine producing 121 PS and 145Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed CVT. It can also be had with an option of diesel engine albeit only in manual transmission.
